Telford College case
study: Making a campus 100% DDA compliant
Signs
Now have helped Telford College become 100% DDA compliant
in all of their signage - and just in time for an official
visit by Princess Anne!
Terry
Smith, Deputy Principal of Telford College said: "Signs
Now have been an excellent supplier to the College, and helped
us tremendously in the year long project to get all of our
signage compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act." |

|
The college
is on a large site with many buildings, and the amount and type
of signage was large and varied: for example:
- directional
signage
- tactile signs on lifts and doors
- car park signs
- ofice door signage
- safety signs |
In
the older buildings on the site the new compliant signage
needed to be retrofitted into the existing structure, but
in all new buildings it was installed from scratch.
"Obviously
putting new compliant signs into an older building takes longer"
said Terry, "but Signs Now were excellent, working as
quickly as possible and fitting in with our requirements." |
|
"At
all times, Signs Now were an excellent partner in this project,
offering quaility advice on what we needed to do - which at times
is more valuable than good service."
This
project had the additional pressure of getting ready for an official
visit by Princess Anne to formally open the new buildings on campus.
"Normally getting the correct signs installed is not exactly
a time-pressured activity! said Terry "but in this case we
has an unmovable deadline that we just had to be ready for! Signs
Now were excellent in adding the resources to the project just when
they were needed."
