Sign Falling Down on Grandmother

For the professional sign maker the bane of our lives are those sign people who fit signs without proper training or the proper materials. There are occasions when a client will tell us that they have been quoted a much cheaper price for their sign. We do advise the client to take great care with these "low ball" quotes and to check out that sign supplier very carefully.

In this case a heavy sign fell on to a 80 year old grandmother who was walking underneath at the wrong time. The matter was investigated by Cornwall Council who concluded that the sign was poorly fitted.

In such a case it is the property owner and the sign maker who are regarded as being negligent in law.
